HP AU backstory shizzam

RADU FEEL FREE TO POKE ME ABOUT THIS TOO. AND YAY OR NAY THE PART ABOUT YOU.

Name Dietrich von Lohengrin
House Ravenclaw
Talent He is a bad mans ): Dietrich is gifted in the imperius curse, occulmency and legillimens. He is naturally intelligent and might even be called a prodigy in some ways. He also has a talent for deceiving people.
Backstory/Other

Dietrich von Lohengrin was born into a family of somewhat average, if not perfectly God-fearing, muggles. He was a bright child, quiet and easy to care for. Unusually so. He was GIFTED or so they say, rather intelligent. 'Course that really meant nothing when he started doing things normal babies aren't supposed to do, like having conversations with their toaster. And then the toaster would do something horribly not toaster like, such as explode. That and he tortured animals. BESIDES THAT he was a quite nice child. Besides the creepy somewhat sadistic tendencies. Which were made worse, not better, by a few attempted murders on his father's side. When he was six his father tried to strangle him. This ended out not so well for the father as he ended up splattered across the wall. Deciding that it would be better just to kill them all Dietrich got rid of his entire family and then started playing 'tricks' on his neighbors. By tricks we mean experiments with his magic and trying to figure out what was going on.

Course this was NOT SO COOL to the Ministry and other such people, but a certain Isaak von Kampfer a member of a Pureblooded society and, well, some say he has ties to Death Eaters (which he denies, though, occasionally will smile and nod and mention something about an Orden). Well. Isaak showed up to investigate and managed to quite shock Dietrich (the exact details are a bit unclear and there may or may not have been another person there, who may or may not be named). From then on Dietrich lived with Isaak and learned all the ins and outs of pretty horrifying magic. Well. To everyone else Dietrich was brought up in a proper wizarding household with proper lessons and all.

When he was eleven he received his letter for Hogwarts. When he was sorted it took a full ten minutes before the Hat let out a 'RAVENCLAW'. It had wanted to place him in Slytherin since it got within five feet of him, but he had quite purposefully been yelling 'not Slytherin' in his head and argued with the Hat until it put him in Not Slytherin. Feeling mildly vindicated at this point, Dietrich proceeded to be a charming, 110% student.

Enter meeting Radu Barvon. Radu Barvon was a Slytherin one year after him, a pureblood hooker. Well, not a hooker, but definitely on the PUREBLOOD IS BETTER bent. Which Dietrich spent some time talking to him, dropping the Kampfer line name, working out what Radu wanted most. And then, when Dietrich was a fifth year and Radu a fourth decided to test out the cruciatus curse -- on Radu. The next year Dietrich used the imperius curse on him, and in fact, decided he liked this curse so much better that he'd just use it all the time. Their relationship is far from healthy, in short.

He couldn't be older than ten. That was what Isaak was thinking as he turned the keys over in his hand, looking for the right one. Or rather, taking his time to find the right one, because he knew which key it was -- the large iron one with the slight warp in the metal. It always stuck when you turned it, something that he had put on a list of things to fix but never got around to. It wasn't important, anyway. He kept silent, not for fear or some sort of desperate need for the illusion of presence or control, but because he wanted to. Issak very rarely did things he didn't want to, and even then... well, even then it was debatable if he had ever done anything unwillingly, but that was splitting hairs. The boy was also quiet, but it was the sort of brooding silence that had leant itself to his predicament anyway. Quiet watching, unusual for a child.

The key stuck; Isaak leaned forward, letting his weight move the door and the lock. The boy raised his eyes, briefly, before pretending to be uninterested in the wall. Too slow, though, as Isaak had noted the somewhat desperate glance. Desperate and all too cruel for a child. He approved.

They didn't speak. Isaak pulled out a cigarillo and lit it, waiting for the child to break the silence himself. Which, really, was inevitable. The boy had already shown himself both incapable of hiding his intelligence, but his cruelty and his emotions. That would have to be fixed. Isaak made a list as he waited, inhaling smoke and letting it fall. He tapped off the ash. And waited.

"What do you want?" the child tried to sound angry, and even pulled his shoulders back, the corners of his lips dropping down into a frown. Isaak took his time answering, noting the way the boy was trying to read him, judge him.

"Nothing."

And that would infuriate him. Isaak watched the twitch in the jaws, the slight curl of fingers and knew that he had the boy, hook line and sinker. It was so easy to manipulate children, almost too easy. Then again, compared to Isaak, everyone was a child.

"Then go away." came the sharp response. Isaak sighed, and seemed to be contemplating. Which he knew would only make the boy angrier. It was a shame that such a brilliant mind (to already be adept in both murder and the Lost Technology at such a young age) was covered by such blatant stupidty. Another item on the list to fix.

"I will not."

Confusion, though it too was shoved away. Too slow, Isaak noted. The boy was too slow when it came to hiding his emotions. There was much to be fixed, but the raw materials were there. Now, all Isaak needed was time.

"............." the boy stood up and took a step towards him.

Isaak had all the time in the world.

COMPLIANCE
and Dietrich. <s>And Buttsex</s>

IF YOU JUST WANT THE DEATH NOTE THING GO HERE

1 - we have canonically Dietrich saying he *hates* orders. Despite this he's basically a henchman. A bossfight before a bossfight. High ranking yes, but still a henchman. He's a tool. What good will the RCO do for him? Not much, especially considering he is a Terran and who is running it. Like. Really. What?

2 - there's no real clear reason why Dietrich does what he does. Even if it is ALL FOR CAIN-SAMA!111 we also know Dietrich betrays Cain later in canon. WHOOPS.

sub2 - WHILE HE WAS INFLUENCED by Caterina we get that she talked him around basically. Even if she was really smart it still makes me kind of... mmm, well, it adds something.

DOING WHAT _______ SAID

SETH - Seth scares him. lol.

LIGHT - ahhh now it gets complicated. Dietrich doesn't actively hate Light, but he doesn't really like him or fear him either. He mainly does what Light asks out of amusement, or because it'll further the game. He's confident in his ability to take Light, quite easily, despite the tree-handcuff issue. Light also interests him more, now that the Note and Ryuk have been revealed. Light's a complex puzzle and to take it apart Dietrich is willing to wait.

ARE YOU 5 OR WHAT

Dietrich is a child. He's childish. He never grew out of WANT, MINE, and NO as his basic commands. Oh, he's grown into tact and learning to hide and lie and stuff... but he has pretty childish motivations.

.....ahhh, okay here's something I'm playing with. Part of Dietrich's beef is that HE IS BITTER and angry at the world. Yeah he shops at Hot Topic YEAH. The way he was when he deaged in camp is actually how I feel like his innermost thoughts usually run. Prettttyyyyyy ":|" and grumpy. Only then there's a healthy side of ":Dsadismamusement" piled on top. But he's deeply dissatisfied with EVERYTHING. He's too smart in a "why is everything imperfect and stupid ):" way as well as... okay. Mentally unstable. But he also figures NO ONE EVER CARED ABOUT ME :E in some... weird part of his mind.

It's all about striking back, in a very odd convulted sort of manner in his head. He's not going to admit he hates the world, or that he hates people or anything like that. In fact, he'd rather people who met him as a kid ignored the part where he was angry and bitter all the time. It really wears on his facade.

Right. On Light and the Death Note and OH MY GOD LIGHT ARE YOU STUPID.

No, not really.

Dietrich isn't going to NOTE CAMP or anything. In fact if he does decide to Note anyone it's probably... Seth, Abel, Crowley. And then only once and no more. He might not even go that far. So far his running opinion of the Note or rather, Light's killing since he didn't know about the Note until more recently was that Light didn't have the guts to just DO THE DEED HIMSELF. Dietrich isn't necessarily for KILLINNNNGGG he gets off on torture. Or mind games. Now, being able to say "...I can kill you, Father Nightroad~ in ways you can't even imagine" and then being able to carry the threat out. Yes. Doing it repeatedly? Not so much. He knows that repeated actions lead to tolerance and with tolerance comes boring reactions. Suck it.

AND TO REVISE THE EARLIER. Dietrich can't Note Seth or Crowley since he doesn't know their names. He would never make the Shinigami eye-trade so (He does know Seth's name, but since she has Augusta as well and since both Cain and Abel have last names but differing ones THAT THROWS A WRENCH INTO HIS PLAN and yeah.) So really just Abel is in danger of getting Noted. (Neo~ feel free to yay or nay or whatever on anything~. I'm easy.)

- Will Dietrich actually not be an ass when it comes to the Note? Probably. Light left instructions and Dietrich will probably follow them. He's pretty good at following directions, actually. When he wants to. The situation in camp is, as he sees it:

L v Light
Abel, Tres, Radu, Seth v him

uhm. Yeah. Despite his "man I always win" mentality... the odds do look a bit slim. Also on the Abel-Tres-Radu-Seth side he KNOWS is also Shigure, Crowley, Aziraphale, Pell, Pell's friends, Crowley's friends, Shigure's friends etc (AM I FORGETTING ANY MAFIA THAT REALLY WANTS TO KILL ME :/ I KNOW THERE'S A LOT OF YOU). The odds are REALLY REALLY STACKED AGAINST HIM and... well, he honestly doesn't see the Note to be that much of an advantage. He can already kill people without touching them. He's not too prideful to pull out of a fight.

THIS IS ENTIRELY PLAYER PREFERENCE HERE TOO: I do not want to play out the "ohgodiknowdietrichisapsychoohgod" in many places. I just simply don't want to. I don't want to play "people know I'm a crazy sadist". I can, but won't. I'd drop before I did that |D. So Dietrich isn't going to rock the boat too much. Or I'm going to try to keep him just as sadistic and asshole-y as he is in canon without spreading dramasplooge all over. I WILL ATTEMPT. And ask that people help |D; yeah. Uhm. I'm sorry?

OKAY I know it must seem a bit against Dietrich's nature to do something that isn't JUST FOR HIMSELF!!111 but really he's not necessarily the I ONLY GO FORTH, FOR MYSELF AND IT'S ALL ABOUT ME GETTING AHEAD. He views himself as mostly ahead anyway. The Note is extraneous. The game with L and Light is both more beneficial and interesting than the Note. Yes the Note is powerful blah blah Ryuk blah blah Dietrich has SOME INTEREST IN IT YES, enough interest that he will avoid losing his memories if at all possible. But I also play Dietrich as not being interested in murder so much as... well, other things. Light's delusional let him play murderboy while I do something fun.

Uh. If there's any questions/comments/concerns/what ifs/what the hell are you doing feel free to ask. Conversation makes my brain work better than just blank essaying.

ON RADU
I know I've kinda failed at continuing to harass XP. Uhm. But he has new 'friends' and stuff :D and Radu has proven to be less and more entertaining... but getting cockblocked out of the library has been rather offputting and Dietrich is kinda :| is it really worth the effort sometimes.

- he will taunt/mock/subtly threaten Radu when he can.
- playing nice is also a threat/mock
- maiming is occasional and not frequent.

we'll probably do something soonish.  Or.  Something.  I dunno.  Cast interactions usually have me in knots anyway XD;

ON SASARAI

Okay.. uhm. Sasarai may be Dietrich's favorite person in camp. IN A NON RAPEY WAY. I... really have no idea how this happened, actually. Dietrich doesn't even necessarily ACTIVELY LIKE HIM not in the way he ... likes stuff. Since Dietrich likes stuff he breaks. Sorta. Anyway. Sasarai is someone Dietrich would LIKE to just hang out with and talk.

What why. I know. It's ... an odd concept.

MORE RECENTLY is the somewhat confused liking of Sasarai as a child. And by liking it was more like "kajsbdksakjabskja D: topped". WHICH is... pretty rare for Dietrich. Cain and Isaak topped him as a kid and that's it. Now Sasarai has. And Dietrich already had like/neutral opinions on Sasarai anyway.

...which. Oddly enough. Dietrich would mafia for Sasarai.'

... hm.

drabblebits

On Drowning

He knew it would end in water. While dreams were no prophecy it was hard to ignore recurring themes. To say 'since childhood' would have been a lie because he cannot recall a single dream he had as a child. Perhaps, if he did not cling so stubbornly to the best memories of his youth it would be easier to find the unhappy ones. He did, however, know exactly how it would feel. He had anticipated the cold, and had always assumed that death would be cold. The quiet swelling in the back of his lungs (did he even have lungs anymore? The wrenching ripping in his chest from before assured him not, but he still felt them bloat and twist in the water) and inevitable blackness were welcomed. Then there was supposed to be forgiveness.

And Radu fell into Hell.

On Forgiveness

He whispered to her, lips just at her ear. "Esther, Esther, dearest Esther, do you forgive me?" she should say no. All it would take is a single word, or the shake of her head. She knew his games well enough, knew him well enough that he had set her up to fail, but not without a way out.

"...why are you asking me this?" Why now, was the more appropriate question. The hem of her skirt was heavy with blood and her fingers were curled around the trigger of her gun, but locked and unable to fire.

"It's just a question, Esther. You have all the answers, after all," he placed a kiss on her cheek. "But don't waste time. You know what they say, you can never get it back."

On Wine

Radu did not think that a single glass of wine would mean anything. A single glass, poured from a single bottle with a slightly smudged label that proclaimed it to be a white, well aged and of a maker he happened to enjoy. He reclined back, the glass in hand and took a sip. Rolling the drink around in his mouth he did not notice the bend in the wall, the slow warping of wood and steel -- which was not warping so much as allowing something to pass through.

"...Care to share?"

Stop snorting the crack

"........too much wire mesh."

Dietrich sighed and looked at the ... well, it wasn't exactly a body anymore. He dug into the pile of tools next to him and came up with wirecutters. With a more than annoyed look he began to cut the wiremesh off of the arm. Sure it was rotting a bit, but the smell wasn't as bad as it could be and he was quite determined to fix it.

Zombies. Fix the zombies, really. And by fix he'd like to use them. However the problem with zombies was that unlike vampires their bodies fell apart. Unlike humans their nerves were shot. So he had spent the last two or three days carefully piecing back together a zombie body, reinforcing with wire mesh and adding some monocarbon wire in place of nerves. The work had gone rather well, he thought, until today when he realized that the he would need a better elbow joint.

Perhaps it would be best to use a combination of zombie parts and human parts. That way the reanimation of the zombie would keep the body 'alive' and the human parts were far more durable. Now. Where to get a person...

On chapter 34

OH CHAPTER 34 HOW MUCH I LOVE/HATE YOU.

Ahaha, it's also the only REAL interaction we've got of Isaak-Dietrich and Cain-Dietrich in the manga. There is that bit earlier in the manga filler where Dietrich is all 'LOLZ FLOWERS, SLEEPING BEAUTY LOLZ' and isaak is all "smokesmokesmokesmoke".

Right, so. We basically have Dietrich all ":| don't smoke here I don't feel well blah blah my toy got destroyed blah blah I guess that was a bit of a failure" but he doesn't seem bothered by it. Just bothered by Isaak being there. Isaak basically reprimands him. Dietrich attempts to turn the tables, but then Cain comes out of the chair.

My shoddy translations someone put up on the forums has Isaak saying "We are but servants to our lord. Compared to him we are small and powerless as ants. But you are only an orphan picked up by an ant." Then we have cain sort of being all creepy and still i the chair and the like.

"After all, you are the same as Flammenschwert, just a toy for our Lord, a doll with pretty brown eyes."

And thus Isaak almost puts Dietrich's eye out. This is right after Radu got dusted by Seth of course.

THEN, I believe, the kicker. "Causing too much trouble will get you thrown out." And Dietrich passes out after Cain says that. And Cain steps on him.

Judging from how surprised Dietrich was this is Not a Regular Occasion. Also, guessing from how Dietrich reacted to Isaak he was expecting some sort of odd verbal spar. I assume so anyway. If we're also taking RAM as something that happened then it is quite likely to be one of those conversations. The banter and occasional Isaak pwning Dietrich conversations.

And then came the few things that were different.
1) the putting out the eye with the cigarette.
2) you're the same as Flammenschwert.
3) if you cause too much trouble you'll get kicked out.

I think 2 and 3 actually hold more sway than 1. 1 is more obvious and an immediate threat and it sure as did not help, but I think that Dietrich could deal with losing on eye. Probably traumatize him a little, but he's already disturbed. And he wouldn't LIKE it and the way I'm playing him Dietrich + maiming = some sort of horrible spiral of aksgdkasak. But that's not the biggest problem.

2 and 3 indicate that he is expendable. Cain doesn't need him, in fact it says that Cain's opinion of him is somewhat... blah. There's nothing special about him. No reason for him to BE THERE. Radu was weak and a pawn and easily used and then tossed aside. If Dietrich is like Radu than he too can just be tossed aside. That idea terrifies him.

I was going to essay here about Isaak and Dietrich and Cain and their dynamics but I'm getting tired. But Isaak was the more diligent, Cain was more neglective and they both spoiled Dietrich. That's why he's a brat. I don't think he actively realizes that Cain and Isaak are people he depends on, but rather if they were to change/vanish his world would just be so different it would blow his mind. It's not something he's considered.

I also take this to be Dietrich's reaction when too stressed/threatened. Absolute shock and the like. Because. He's not really much of a screamer. I can't quite tell what he's doing when Seth dusts him, but whatever. I assume he folds in instead of out when stressed.

...mnbkjbjkabjk. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE COHERENCE D:

HOBOY.

Okay, I can't read the Chinese scans, which puts me at a bit of a disadvantage. SO LOLOLOL I DUNNO WHAT THEY'RE ACTUALLY SAYING. I've got a shoddy translation of the Japanese (in my head) but yeah. It totally looks like Radu is stripping, doesn't it? Lol, he isn't. He's all "Look, I've got no wounds here 8D" but it kind of degrades from there anyway.

Previous to this scene the aggression we've seen with Dietrich has been mainly pain, with the exception of the part where he tells Esther that he could make it feel like she was being violated or have pleasure. But the actual aggression/pain he inflicted on Radu (chapter 14) was control, control, pain, but not on a sexual level. Of course the dynamics there are very differrent, with Radu being an 'underling' and with both of them knowing what the other is and all of that. There is also the fact that there might be a sort of history there as well. It's clear that Radu dislikes Dietrich on sight, and I can't imagine that Dietrich just had that one moment of taunting and mocking. If it is like how I assume, Radu was a project not a singular case. The attack on Ion itself doesn't seem to be that useful. I guess the assumption can be made that if Ion is killed such and such happens and if not then Ion will be on the look out for such and such and if he is then Esther will be saaaad I don't know exactly.

Earlier in the manga (again, chapter 14) when Ion is mentioned by Dietrich it's a sort of "LOLZ SUCKS TO BE YOU" at Radu thing. The two things that he tells Ion (as Radu) is that he's going to kill the Empress and that Esther hates vampires. Both seem to serve his purpose, but the entire scene is ... odd.

Judging from Radu's appearance later in the manga when he stops Dietrich from killing Ion, Radu is up there somewhere. It's not surprising that Dietrich is prone to causing more damage than needed. It's how he is. But it somewhat raises the Ion-Radu-Dietrich issue.

Ion as a way to get to Radu
This is certainly an option. It's one that I think fits rather well, but not necessarily the sole motivater. I do play Dietrich as being someone who fixates because it helps me organize what I'm doing. The fact that Ion and Radu are close and then Radu CHOOSES to betray Ion is just wonderful to Dietrich. He loves that kind of crap. Betrayal is probably one of his favorite things to reenact and to be privy to. As long as it doesn't have anything to do with him on the receiving end.

The excessive violence, the physical force and just sexual nature of the encounter is because it is Ion and Radu's body. If it were someone else, it would be different. Dietrich personalizes his tortures, after all. The choice to rip into Ion's thigh doesn't serve as a way to hinder Ion, since he's a Methuselah and will heal, but whatnot. I bet he's just being a sadist.

Dietrich is uninhibited
Okay. This is kind of weird but I think that Dietrich's interactions with Ion are more immediately dangerous. Dietrich DOES LIKE Esther. Esther is a project too, after all. But he also does like her, in whatever twisted sense of liking he has. He doesn't like Ion. Not that he dislikes Ion, but there's no real reason to keep Ion alive except as a way to hurt other people.

In any instance where Dietrich-as-Radu is interacting with Ion it's clear that Ion is expendable. More than expendable really. The whole kill Ion for whatever purpose blah blah blah. Anyway.

There can only be good things that come from Ion's death, in Dietrich's world. It would hurt Esther terribly, for one, but if he had Esther kill Ion of her own free will it wasn't like it was REALLY HIS FAULT. It fucks with Radu's already fucked with head. Fucks with the vampire world in general etc.

SEX with other people's bodies
I really really want to say that Dietrich prefers to have sex through other people's bodies. I don't know why. I just feel like he's probably pretty weirdly body conscious with himself. Along with this I've decided his eating habits are the reason he dislikes smokers isn't just because the smoke-computers thing and just not because he's being a dick. Not that he's a health-freak, but perhaps a little paranoid of his own mortality. Not necessarily mortality, ah... his body's fragility? I think he would take maiming far worse than death. So I make the assumption that he's more likely to rape Ion in Dietrich's body than in his own.

.. yeah.

That's the other thing. I think that the scene would have ended in rape-death. Or just rape-maiming. Just, ahaha. yeah. ... uh. Yeah.

On if Ion came to camp
Because I can.

Judging from how the situation IS at camp right now... ah. Okay. So the thing with Ion is that if he is apped from after the whole LOLOLOLOL EMO RADU EMO EMO EMO then Ion knows what Dietrich is. Which means that Dietrich then just mercilessly maims him until someone kicks him in the face. If Ion is from BEFORE then, ahaha oh god so much angst on Radu's part. But if then Dietrich will not so subtly drop hints and then probably decide REENACTMENT IS IN STORE 8D.

All scenarios point to me dying.

The possibility that Dietrich gets PWND for being sneaky is high. But since pwning clearly did not deter him from bothering Radu it's not going to deter him from bothering Ion.

In some ways Ion is more problematic than Esther in that with Esther there is the incentive to not horribly maim her. The incentive to maybe even get her to trust him again depending on what game he decided to play with her (when she was apped from and how much castmates were >E at him over it). Ion is purely expendable.

DIETRICH VON ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

DIETRICH VON ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION
This is paralinguistic's fault.

... so, this is really the SEXUALITY ESSAY that never happened but was supposed to. Why Dietrich von Erective Dysfunction? Well, because paralinguistic is a hooker. That and because it sort of really kind relates to the topic. Dietrich and sex, but really Dietrich and pleasure.

The various translations floating about say things like "has an unhealthy obsession with Esther". He tells her that he loves her, and then does things which people don't do to people they love. Mainly, telling them they can make them feel like they're being raped, setting them up to die horribly or kill their friends, ruining their lives... the list kind of continues. There's also all the scenes where I took his truly happy looking faces from. All of them are from a scene where he's done something rather horrible to Esther. Or just being horrible in general.

I make the assumption that for Dietrich 'pleasure' isn't at all what 'pleasure' is for everyone else. Things don't make him happy or 'tickle his fluffy spot' if you want to say it that way like they do other people. Getting birthday presents doesn't bring him joy. It's interesting because imperial_artist has a fic about killing-family-masturbation-hints or such posted today. I've been planning this essay for a while, but the timing is rather uncanny. He's fucked up. That's a bit of an understatement, but it's also just the best way to describe it.

Sex
Normal sex doesn't do it for him. Sure he can do the whole erection, ejaculation whatever, but it doesn't make him feel good. There's no pleasure it in. I'm sure he has some sort of weird complex with the human body and all of its unnecessary or necessary functions and weaknesses as well. This is where the 'von Erectile Dysfunction' comes in. Not to say that he couldn't get an erection without the sadism. But really to say that nothing gives him a hard on like a little torture.

This is much tied to my playing of another character – the Corinthian – who ate eyes instead of sex. It's talked about in the Sandman Companion, that he's a homosexual nightmare who eats eyes in the place of having sex. Sort of weird wild fetishist thing.

Sexuality
GAY? STRAIGHT? TORTURESEXUAL? The last one, but in terms of 'attraction' it probably falls into the 'bisexual' sort of equivalent. I would think that he's pinged by nice girls with spunk, but as we've seen with Radu it doesn't matter if you have a penis. He prefers people with have strong attachments to other people and have a compassionate nature.

In Camp
Euphie – ahaha. Oh man. She's like his new Esther. He adores her. She's kind and smart and <s>stupid</s> simple and just loving. He adores everything about her... a-and wants to break her into a bajillion pieces.

Radu – whooo boy. Radu is like his new Rad... oh wait. Yeah, Dietrich likes hurting Radu. Part of it is a control thing, since camp is so out of control he exerts more on Radu to compensate. Part of it is also that Dietrich's wires are vulnerable to fire and omg pyrokinetics are BAD. Part of it is that he <s>gets off on</s> likes Radu's totally beaten down face.

Seth/Abel – Not at as pairing XP. He's afraid of Seth, but doesn't think Abel is a threat. Would totally jack off to their corpses.

Noriko – oh ho, now that he's met Izark she's become more appealing. He hasn't yet seen her BACKBONE side, so she's not nearly as sexy as Euphie. But close.

Pell – Ahh, the new Ion. He's just a tool to bother Radu, at the moment. HOWEVER their last encounter left Dietrich with some things to think about.

Virgin?
Dietrich has had sex. N-now I want to be a horrible person and say that Dietrich has only had sex through others. That is, while he was puppet-ing their body.

... yeah. Still thinking on it.

On Growing Up
I want to randomly say that I am going to blame Isaak for this XP. Not really just Isaak, but I'm totally going with upbringing on this one. That he already had the 'potential for evil' but it didn't mean he was dysfunctional in the frame of pleasure. But with the whole family hating on you and dad trying to kill you and Isaak and Cain being your adult figures... yeah. Going with W T F background.

"The newcomer, boy or girl?" It wasn't often that Helga spoke to Dietrich, but she was curious. And by curious, horny. And by horny, horny enough to talk to Dietrich. Which really meant that they should hide their cows.

Dietrich turned and looked at her out of the corner of his eye. "...I don't know. I guess I'll have to go find out for you." He said cheerfully and waved a hand before gliding out of the room. He really didn't need to see what she was doing with her ... anyway.

"...oh. You must be new." Luckily his quarry was easy to spot, being the only unfamiliar face in the RCO Tower. Dietrich grinned and then placed both hands firmly on the other's chest. "...ah." And then on his crotch.

Radu Barvon, Baron of Luxor, had not expected that sort of greeting. Not at all. What he expected even less was the grin that answer his indignant yell and rather violent retaliation.

"HE'S A BOY.... I THINK."
"...do you think penguins float alright in fresh water?" the youth asked, sorting through a pile of gravel for a fingernail sized pebble and tossing it. The other watched it arc, leaning forward a little to watch it fall. "I mean, are there fresh water penguins?"

"I don't think it would matter that much. Penguins are naturally more boyent because of their fat content," the second replied, lacing his fingers into the chain link fence so he could lean over more. They were sitting on an overpass over the slow highway. Slow, because there were two highways near the town. One that was a good seventy miles per hour and the other that was a 'mere fifty'.

"Huh, never thought of it like that before..." Another rock was tossed and the two waited. The first had his head tilted a little, as if listening. "What do you think about floating iguanas?"

CANON

p 26 - The computer was the most mysterious of all the relics left behind from before the Armageddon. Only specialists called "programmers" could decipher the large volume of coded ones and zeroes into logic. She didn't know what the vampire had done to the system, but it would take an amateur years to figure it out.

p 50 - "Missiles. The objects are missiles, a lost technology of the ancient civilization."

p 57 - Is this some kind of ruse as well? It can't be the Rosenkreuz Orden. They've been gone for ten years, and they never had the will or means to pull off something like hijacking the Tristan.

p 67 - "Father Nightroad?" Tres asked aloud, looking down at him emotionlessly. Tres was put together flawlessly; his robe hung exactly like it was supposed to; everything about him was tailormade. Abel could even call him handsome, but at the moment, he smelled like gunpowder, which wasn't all that attractive.

p 83 - "Hi, Abel. You're late," a voice said.

In the darkness, Abel could just barely make out a tall man who now turned to face him. His face was totally unfamiliar, but Abel felt like he somehow knew this man who had light blond hair and a boyish smile.

Then the smell of stagnant blood caught up to him.

The blond man had something in his hand. "You should be pleased. The negative element was eliminated." He held up something for Abel to see. The rotting odor grew strong. "Now there is no one to disrupt our plan. The traitor is no longer alive."

The blond man was holding a female's head. She had a beautiful face, but now she was grotestque.

p 89 - Before the Armageddon, scientists were able to decipher human DNA, and they develped techniques to alter the genetic codes. "Witches" were descendents of those genetically altered humans. They develped amazing mental powers: telepathy, ESP, telekinesis, and pyrokinesis. They could, reportedly, read people's minds or move objects without touching them.

After the Armageddon, vampires and humans went to war. Both sides detested withces and hunted them ruthlessly. Global genocide resulted, leaving barely any witches alive. In rare cases some powers lay dormant during the Inquisition; these traits skipped a few generations, and then apepared randomly in some descendents.

p 101 - "You and I are alike. I am also haunted by powers within me -- cursed powers that try to devour my soul from the inside out," he explained.

His eyes changed color, fading from winter blue to blood red.

"But I have not given up on living. I can't hide from my sings. If I give in, I'll be nothing more than a monster. But I choose to live as a man. I choose to live with the burden," he whispered.

Taking a deep breath, he murmured, "Nanomachine Crusnik 02 forty percent limited performance -- authorized."

p 103 - (Tres is going to eliminate Eris because she's a threat)

"Out of ammo. The eliminate cannot be accomplished at this time," Tres concluded.

Abel sighed, relaxing his shoulders. He knew better than to think that Gunslinger had actually run out of ammunition. "Thank you, Father Tres."

p 109 - Asthe was dazzlingly beautiful and she knew it. At least six feet tall, with a long black coat that hung down to her heels, she was an alabaster goddess. Her hair was ivory colored, except for a stripe of red that hung down over her face. She looked young, barely out of her teens.

p 139 - The New Human Empire -- the largest territory that vampires controlled -- was the only non-human nation on the plant (typo? planet?). With an abundance of vampires who posessed technologically advanced weaponry, the Empire was quite dangerous.

p 155 - Tres winced at the electronic howling.

p 159 - "Good evening, Cardinal Sforza, Duchess of Milan. It's such a wonderful night," the stranger said.

"Who are you?" Caterina demanded.

A man in a black suit stood in front of the door. He had hip-length black hair. He looked refined, urbane even, but his mischievous smile worried her. That, and the fact that he'd just walked through a solid metal door.

"I'm a big fan of yours. I wanted to see the legendary woman of steel at least once. I'm so delighted. You are more beautiful than I'd imagined," he said.

"Stay back, you bastard!" Marino yelled.

The guards took positions around Caterina and drew their swords. The stranger smiled wickedly as they charged.

"No... stop!" Caterina commanded, but it was too late.

They swung wildly at him, but he easily dodged the blows. He waved his fingers in an intricate pattern and suddenly...

The guards froze. Their perfectly functioning eyes rolled around in terror as their bodies quit working.

"Rude little boys. Didn't you learn not to interrupt people?" he sang.

He continued to sing slowly and wistfully. It sounded like he was chanting. He placed his white-gloved hands over the guards. Pentagrams had been sewn onto the backs of the gloves.

"Zazazoo. Zazazoo, Nasatanda, Zazazoo," he sang.

The pentagram glowed in response to the chant.

The sisters screamed in horror.

The man's shadow rose up, leaving a (typo?) tar-like trails. Then, a multitude of shadows ascended from the floor. They were bloated and smelled noxious, like twisted rubber dolls. Their faceless heads had only a red slit for a mouth, where fangs protruded.

"An ill-illusion?" Caterina stammered.

One of the blobs stepped forward; its slick black skin absorbed and reflected light.

"Shadow Devils," the man proclaimed. "I made some of these pets the other day for fun. As you can see, they're always so hungry. You can never feed them enough."

The shrieks they made turned everyone's blood cold.

Their heads looked like protoplasm. Even without the aid of eyes or noses, they somehow detected fresh meant. When they turned toward the frozen guards, the corners of their mouths lifted in happiness.

"No!" Caterina screamed.

The guards remained silent as they were eaten alive. The sisters' cries dissolved into unintelligible wailing.

Marino quickly pulled out his gun and took aim at the man in black.

BOOM!

The bullet bolted out of the barrel and headed straight for the mysterious man's forehead. But the man's head was not torn asunder; instead, the bullet magically found another target.

Marino's head exploded. Blood and grey matter spurted all over the room as the headless body crumpled to the ground.

"No!" Caterina yelled again.

The body collapsed on two of the nuns. Terrified, they clawed their way out from under the large corpse.

Did you think it would be that easy?" the stranger asked. He didn't have a scratch on him.

"You..." Caterina glowered. The sight of Marino's headless body infuriated her. "I know who you are," she said. Her eyes gleamed with rage. "Rosenkreuz Orden -- Contra Mundi, and the ominous men who follow him ... correct?" she spat out.

"Oh, so you know him," he said, smirking. "If you know my master, then you know there is no hope. And you really are a woman of steel to oppose us. I find that incredibly. I regret that you must die. How about a deal instead? If you leave quietly and let me have this place, I will spare you life. Does that sound fair?" he asked.

"And let the pope die? That's what you're really after, isn't it?" she asked.

This time, it was Caterina's turn to smile. She pushed her blonde ringlets from her face, jingling her earrings in the process. "Even if you spared my life now, I'd die another day, fighting you. If I'm going to die anyway, I'd rather die here," she said sternly.

"Hm, you are quite intelligent. I suppose I'll deeply regret this..." The man snapped his fingers.

The Shadow Devils surrounding the dead guards raised their faces. They looked at the cardinal, poised for action, and the sisters who cowered behind her. The dark shadows grinned, blood dripping from their mouths.

"Will you grant me one last request?" Caterina asked.

"Of course," he responded.

"Identify yourself. I refuse to be killed by someone who hasn't even told me their name," she said.

"Oh, how rude of me," he purred. He placed a hand on his chest and bowed grandly. "My name is Kampfer. Isaak Fernand von Kampfer. Rosenkreuz Orden, Panzer Magier. I am my master's faithful servant," he said.

"Thank you sir." She nodded and flicked her earring, grinning at her tormenter.

He nodded.

"Well then, Mister Kampfer, let me tell you something in return," she offered.

"Yes? Pretty please tell me," he said sarcastically.

"Remember this: a woman dislikes any overly talkative man. All units, open fire!" she commanded.

In that moment, the ceiling burst open.

It was a thunderous spectacle to behold. The brick and morter of the building blew around like confetti, and streaks of metal rained down into the room. The twenty-milimeter rounds destroyed the Shadow Devils. It was an extremely well-coordinated attack, so none of the bullets hit caterina and her group. Such marksmanship was too accurate for a normal human.

"Powerful and impressive," Kampfer purred. "But what is even more impressive is the man pulling the trigger."

Kampfer remained untouched; his suit wasn't even sullied by the falling dust. But all of his devils had been blown to smithereens. Pieces of inhuman flesh twitched and melted as string black ooze expanded across the floor.

"You're the one. The Gunmetal Hound owned by the Woman of Steel. The last of the ten Killing Dolls that took over the Castle of Saint Angelo five years ago." Kampfer's voice sounded delighted.

The smoke cleared, revealing an imposing figure standing protectively in front of Caterina.

"AX Agent HC-IIIX -- Codename: Gunslinger," Kampfer said.

"Affirmative," Tres responded over the sound of the large Vulcan cannon hammer clanging against a firing pin.

BOOM!

p 173 - "Mono-carbon fiber!" Caterina yelled under her breath.

Mono-carbon fiber was one of the lost technologies from before the Armageddo. It was made up of several C60 carbon molecules -- the thinnest and strongest fiber ever made. Though it was vulnerable to fire, the fiber could cut the toughest diamon, and depending on how it was used, it doubled as the deadliest of weapons. (Sword of Beelzebub)

p 174 - Both of his gloved hands were blown off. He looked down in disbelief. "Unbelievable," was all he said. How could the Killing Doll have calculated the ricochet angle after it hit the shield?

"I suppose the name Gunslinger fits you well. Just like I am rightfully called Wizard," Kampfer said.

Wizard seemed to shrink as he sank into the floor. "Don't even think of following me, you puppet," Kampfer said to Tres. Looking one last time at Tres and Caterina, he was swallowed by his own shadow. "I will probably see you again in the near future. When the ring of fate closes, you will become my great sacrifices," he said.

Caterina blinked rapidly. Now, only Kampfer's head remaind outside his shadow.

"What are you doing?! Shoot him, Gunslinger!" she yelled.

Tres raised his arms, trying to obey his mistress, but he stopped suddenly.

"Fa-Father Tres!" Caterina screamed.

Both of Tres' arms were severed at the shoulders. They fell heavily to the floor. Caterina couldn't believe what she saw: Tres dropping to his knees, fuilds streaming from his wounds.

"This makes us even. No grudges, Father Tres. Farewell," Kampfer said. His laughter echoed even as he sank completely into his shadow.

p 175 - "The Count of Zagrev has been taken into custody and is being transported. He will probably arrive in a day or so," Asthe said, kneeling.

"Good job, Duchess." The obscure image of Augusta, Empress of the New Human Empire, looked down from her floating throne. Her electronically altered voice vibrated throughout in the royal chambers. "Duchess of Odess, you mentioned a collaborator from the Outer World. How was he?" the empress asked.

"What do you mean by that, Empress?" Asthe responded with a question of her own.

August noticed that her shoulders quivered momentarily. "I'm asking if he was helpful. You expressed favorable thoughts about him in the report, no?"

"N-no! Just that, for a Terran, he was useful. If you wish, shall I add m-more details to the r-report?" Asthe stammered.

"No, that's not necessary. I do not want to burden you with any more work. Excellent job. You are dismissed," August said finally.

"Yes, Your Highness! As you wish." Asthe bowed.

Once the tall duchess of Odessa left the royal chambers, the lonely room's soft lights grew stronger, illuminating the small figure of a young girl. She stretched out and spoke in her real voice. "So he's still on the humans' side? Then maybe I shouldn't pick a fight with the Vatican. One of him, we could overcome... but two of them? That would be troublesome."

A green-eyed teenager sat on the throne. Her bobbed brunette hair trimmed her pretty face; she had long, skinny arms and legs; her energetic expression was cat-like in nature. The girl, Empress Augusta Vradica, took off her large hat and draped herself across her floating throne.

"He sure hasn't changed. He's still honoring his lost lover's wish and siding with the Terran. I don't understand it, but somehow he's popular with the girls. He needs to take a new lover already. I highly recommend Astharoshe. If I was a boy, I'd go after her for sure," Augusta said.

The royal chamber's interior design depicted a Canadian landscape before the Armageddon: a nostalgic, lush green forest. The smell of chlorophyll and the chirping birds were soothing.

"Oh, what should I do?" The little girl sighed. Eventually, she fell into a restful sleep. A small songbird perched on her chest, which rose and fell in a gentle rhythm.
ABEL: PRINCE OF GAY

Aha. The Abel Essay.

Dietrich is not as afraid of Abel as he probably should be. He has a few experiences with Abel and in each of them Dietrich perceived himself to have the upper hand. He's not afraid of Crusnik 02 (and I assume some of the fear of 03 was his surprise and then inability to move, as the body destroyed wasn't his own). In the first instance, with Esther, Dietrich got away easily. He got most of what he wanted, even if the interruption of the Star of Sorrow was a loss. The next instance of them in conflict was ... I want to say it wasn't until Byzantium. I'm tired, let me make mistakes. Anyway, and then it was Radu's body and Abel's Crusnik thing didn't work out so well. Dietrich is 2/2. So he's fairly confident in his ability to deal with Abel. There's also the vampire blood-Crusnik issue, which he feels gives him a bonus in camp. Since he assumes both Seth and Abel are maintaining and cover they aren't running around drinking the blood of vampires. Yeah. He also views camp itself as an advantage, since it's so small and contained and there are lots of people around. Dietrich doesn't care about collateral damage.

Hoookay. Besides the danger danger~ or lack thereof, Dietrich sees Abel as somewhat in the way. I assume there's some sort of frustration because Abel is close to Esther and Cain. In radiohead Dietrich says that Esther will be mad at him if he kills Abel, but that Father Nightroad is becoming a problem. In chapter 34 Cain chastises Dietrich <s>steps on him</s> and is all yey 02. While Dietrich's not there for this part, I bet that that isn't the first instance of 02 being brought up in a light Dietrich may not be so fond of. There isn't a lot of direct playing with Abel which Dietrich finds interesting. Abel's too good with his own covers and being fairly resilient and the like. He'd rather (like Seth) take Abel apart physically, or remove Abel from the picture since he doesn't have the same negative feelings towards him. Seth is a negative, Abel is an annoyance.

N-now with the recent TBcast dorama that popped up, Dietrich doesn't feel any different about Abel. He's been warned rather blatantly by Seth and some of that actually hit home in his empty head somewhere. However, Abel threatened but then let him go. Which just gives Dietrich more confidence. He's also a bit secretly pleased by the fact that Abel has taken Radu under his protection. There's nothing like hurting those someone else has sworn to protect.

As a player I'm always pretty wary when I get an email notification from 'onthenightroad'. Possibly and probably because when the shit goes down Dietrich's gonna die. It doesn't help that I am moderately terrified of threading with hydr0phobia because I will fuck up like no one's tomorrow. But our threads have been relatively short and painless so far. Which is somewhat foreboding, considering what Dietrich's been fucking with.
